Guide to Brisbane

Fun and adventure are the name of the game when you’re in Brisbane for the Australian Youth Water Polo Championships. Take some extra time and dive into everything the Queensland capital has to offer.

You’ll find lively precincts with outdoor adventures, beautiful parklands, the colour of the Eat Street food markets and so much more.

Explore the city centre with a walking tour, join a bicycle or Segway tour or enjoy a river cruise. If it’s adventure you’re after, head to Kangaroo Point for abseiling, rock climbing, kayaking the river, roller-blading or cycling. For the ultimate experience, climb the Story Bridge and savour views over the city, hinterland and Moreton Bay. If you dare, abseil 30 metres down the bridge’s pylon.

The South Bank Parklands are a popular drawcard. Take a dip in the iconic Streets Beach swimming lagoon, dine at a waterfront restaurant or explore the eye-opening, family-friendly exhibitions and interactive displays in the museums and galleries of the Cultural Precinct – or enjoy a show at the performing arts centre. For a sky-high view of the river and city, take a whirl on South Bank’s famed Wheel.

Just offshore, cruise across pristine Moreton Bay to discover an island paradise where snorkelling sunken wrecks, sand boarding, surfing, fishing, 4WD-tours, kayaking, wildlife spotting and glamping are just some of the activities on offer. Head inland from Brisbane and discover stunning mountain ranges, World Heritage-listed rainforests, fresh produce and authentic farm experiences.
