Water Polo Queensland Board Seeking EOI for Finance Officer Position

The Water Polo Queensland Board would like to thank Chris Camilleri for his hard work and commitment to Finance Officer role over the past five years, having ensured the financial stability of the sport. On behalf of the water polo community: Thank you, Chris.

The WPQ Board are seeking applications to fill the casual vacancy of the Finance Officer Position.

Applicants should have experience in accounting or financial management and the ability to provide support to the Board and CEO relating to financial matters of the organisation. The role will require regular attendance at Board Meetings and chair the Finance, Audit and Risk Committee.

Ideal candidates will have:

· An understanding or interest in the sporting sector.

· A strong commitment to collaborative decision making.

· Effective communication skills.

· Experience in corporate governance in the context of a not-for-profit organisation.

A copy of the role description can be found here and the Terms of Reference for the Finance, Audit and Risk Committee can be found here. On average, the time commitment for the role would be approximately 10 hours per month with ebbs and flows over the course of the year.

In accepting their positions, board members undertake to provide sound governance and effective leadership to the organisation by ensuring that the organisation has:

· Clear and achievable plans in line with its purpose and values.

· Adequate resources to carry out its work.

· An effective financial framework to guide its work, implement its plans and meet its obligations.

· Adequate internal controls to ensure sound financial management, risk management and legal compliance.

· Adequate internal accountability mechanisms to ensure compliance with policies and procedures and to monitor organisational performance.
