Sport and Recreation - Greater Brisbane Area Update

As you may be aware, Queensland Health will shortly release an updated Covid-safe Roadmap for the Greater Brisbane Area following the completion of the three-day lockdown period last weekend. The Roadmap outlines additional restrictions that will be in place from 6pm Monday 11 January 2021 through to 1am Friday 22 January 2021. Details of these changes are outlined on the Queensland Government’s COVID website.

Please note the following as specific to the sport, recreation and fitness industries as they apply to the Greater Brisbane Area (being Brisbane, Ipswich, Logan City, Moreton Bay and Redlands):

  • Individuals must carry a face mask at all times when outside of home
  • Individuals must wear a face mask in indoor spaces, including:
    • indoor recreation facilities and gyms
    • indoor workplaces (where social distancing is not possible)
  • Indoor events:
    • under 500 people do not require approval when following a Covid-safe Event checklist.
    • between 500 – 10,000 people require a Covid-safe Event Plan approved by local Public Health Units
    • over 10,000 people require a Covid-safe Event Plan approved by the Chief Health Officer
  • Outdoor events:
    • under 1000 people do not require approval when following a Covid-safe Event checklist
    • between 1000 – 10,000 people require a Covid-safe Event Plan approved by local Public Health Units
    • over 10,000 people require a Covid-safe Event Plan approved by the Chief Health Officer

Subject to no cases in the community, from 1:00am Friday 22 January 2021, Greater Brisbane may return to the current ongoing restrictions for rest of Queensland further information will be provided closer to the date subject to further announcements. Please note all organisations must continue to comply with COVID Safe Industry Plans.

I encourage you to read the Roadmap in its entirety to ensure you fully understand and are able to comply with the updated restrictions as they apply to sport, recreation and fitness.
