Her leadership and collaboration with the Aquatic Sports sector to develop the Covid Safe Industry Plan is to be commended and ensured sport could continue. Mel's experience, knowledge and integrity have been of great support to the Board, Staff, members, and our key stakeholders. On behalf of WPQ, we thank her for her contributions and wish her every success in her future endeavours.”

"It has been a privilege to have worked as CEO for Water Polo Queensland alongside some very capable and professional Staff. The water polo community in Queensland is passionate about our wonderful sport and it has been a delight to work with volunteers, administrators, and supporters across the state to deliver great things. However, it has not been without its challenges, navigating Covid-19 was the most challenging period which impacted our people, our participation opportunities, and our finances. Having successfully navigated the organisation through these challenges, it’s now time for me to step back, take a break and spend some quality time with my family. I leave knowing that water polo is well placed to continue a bright and successful future,” said Mel Woosnam.

The WPQ Board have undertaken the recruitment process for Mel's replacement and welcomes interest from the water polo community. The Board will discuss and announce the interim arrangements shortly.
