On behalf of Water Polo Queensland Incorporated we excited to announce a new role that will drive the growth, development and capability of water polo within the Sunshine Coast Region.

The WPQ Game Development and Competitions Officer is a part-time role and will deliver development, capacity building and participation opportunities within the Sunshine Coast Region. A key part of the role will be to establish and manage local competitions and attract and retain new participants to water polo whilst building the capacity and capability of coaches, referees, officials and volunteers.

The focus of this role will require stakeholder management with the Sunshine Coast Water Polo Association as well as existing Clubs and Schools to ensure they are all working together to grow and develop a sustainable model for water polo on the Sunshine Coast.

This role will support the delivery of development programs for athletes, coaches and officials as well as supporting State level events, competitions and programs where required.

About the Role 

  • Build the capacity and capability of athletes, coaches, referees and officials on the Sunshine Coast
  • Work with SCWP, Clubs & Schools to establish sustainable local junior, senior and social competitions
  • Plan and manage coach and referee development opportunities, including assessments and mentoring programs
  • Provide support and assistance to deliver school programs, participation and development programs and initiatives (particularly State Schools)
  • Support Sunshine Coast School Sport to deliver the primary and secondary school competitions
  • Assist in the coordination and delivery of athlete talent development programs
  • Assist in the delivery of WPQ events and competitions as required
  • Develop positive relationships with all stakeholders 

What you will bring to the role 

  • Current WPA qualifications as a minimum Development coach and/or referee is highly desirable
  • Current WPA qualifications and/or experience as a Coach and/or Referee Assessor & Mentor is desirable
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to engage with people across a wide range of organisations, eg. government, education institutions, universities and facility providers
  • High level skills and experience with the Revolutionise Sport database and competition management
  • Strong stakeholder management skills
  • Strong time management, presentation skills and the ability to meet deadlines and prioritise tasks
  • Strong passion and interest in water polo and sports administration
