Important Notice Just sent by Peter Hobday at Australian Water Polo

It is with regret and some sadness that AWPI advises that the WaPo Festival for athletes 12 & Under (scheduled to be held in Brisbane 11-15 January 2010) has been cancelled after the withdrawal of all NSW Clubs. This leaves only Queensland Clubs, and whilst AWPI is very appreciative of their support, it would be a pointless exercise to continue on that basis following the very successful event held by QWPI in December.

The Water Polo Queensland initiative to hold its first 12 & Under competition was a great success, and everyone involved is to be congratulated.

The Australian Water Polo WAPO Festival will be held in Brisbane 11-15 January, and I write to encourage you to enter teams in the festival. There a categories for boys, girls and mixed, athletes must be born 1998 or later. If you have players who want to play, but there are not enough to make a team, perhaps you could advise Gina, who will make a composite team.

The format of the Australian event will be similar to that played this weekend, however, Wednesday 13 January will be a “free” day for which Queensland Water Polo are organising some social activities.

Can I ask that you to let me know if you intend to enter teams by Wednesday 23 December (preferably sooner).
