CONGRATULATIONS to Barracuda Boys and Barracuda Girls for winning the 2009/2010 U18 State Championships.

Boys:

Throughout the Semi Finals the boys from River City, Warriors, Alstonville and Barracudas showed us how strong the Qld Competition is, with each game going down the the last few seconds.

The Bronze Medal Match was another close game with River City vs Warriors. After the 4x5 min Quarters both teams were tied at 7 all. In Overtime Both teams fought hard however River City Came out scoring a goal to give them an 8-7 win.

The Boys Gold Medal Match was between Alstonville and Barras. The game was a tough, rough and fast match with the score remaining tied at the first half. Both teams giving it their all until barracudas took the lead after the 3rd quarter 6-4. In the 4th the game remained rough with Barras losing a playing from the field, giving them 3 mins with a man down. Alstonville threw everything at them however Barras block the goals and came out on top with a 8-6 win.

Girls:

The Girls Bronze Medal game was between BGGS and All Hallows. The game was very close in the first 3 quarters however All Hallows stepped it up a level and scored a few late goals to give them a 6-2 win.

Barracudas and Sunny Coast were the two girls teams playing off for the Gold Medal. Both teams having State Representatives in their Line up and Barras having a few National Representatives as well. With all these star players the game did not disappoint with Barras going out early and leading at Half time 6-2. Sunshine Coast fought back in the second half but Barras Offense and Defense became to strong and Barracudas won the match 10-7.

Boys:

In the boys Bronze Medal Final saw River City vs SCWP A. River City being to strong for the Coast Boys and winning 11-5.

In the Gold Medal Match between Warriors vs Barras ended up being a nail biter and having the 100's of spectators in the stands on the edge of their seats. Barras started the game early with 3 quick goals however Warriors throughout the game fought back to make it 5-5 to take the game into Extra Time. Again Barras got a quick goal to make it 6-5 and then Warriors threw everything at Neil Gynthers boys but their defense was too good and the Final Score was 6-5 to give Barras the Championship.

Girls:

The Bronze Medal Match showed us two very even teams fighting for 3rd place. The game was never over until the last siren went with stuartholme fighting all the way but Sunshine Coast came out the better team with the result 5-3.

The Gold Medal Match gave us a familar rivalry with All Hallows 1 vs BGGS 1. The game showed us how both team got to this game with their great game play and skill however All Hallows ran away with the game winning 10-3.

The Under 14 State Championships will be held on the 5th - 7th December 2009 at the Valley and All Hallows swimming pools. Teams nominations have been called for by a circular which will be sent to all clubs by the 30th October (a copy of the circular is attached). Once team nominations have been received pool allocations will be made along with a draw for the competition.
