The 16 and Under State Championships were held at the Nambour and Noosa Aquatic Centres on the 2nd - 4th May 2009.

Congratulations to all teams for the performance and behaviour on the weekend. Sunshine Coast A Girls were the 2009 champions defeating All Hallows A in the Gold Medal game. Sunshine Coast were undefeated throughout the competition. Barracudas defeated All Hallows Development team in the Bronze Medal game.

Alstonville were crowned the Boys champions defeating Barracudas 7-5 in extra time in the Gold Medal Game. Warriors defeated Polo Bears to take the Bronze medal.

Individual Award winners are as follows;

Girls Encouragement Award - Emily Nielsen
Boys Encouragement Award - James Meurant

At the conclusion of the Championships the selectors chose the State Squads which will represent Queensland in Auckland against the New Zealand Water Polo National 16 and 15 teams as well as participating in an International U18 Club competition. The State Squad can be viewed below.
