Dear 16 and Under Squad Members,

As outlined at the recent training sessions the last two Sundays have doubled as selection trials for perspective teams for this year’s National titles.

Firstly, I would like to acknowledge once again the reasons for these selections being commissioned earlier than originally anticipated. The situation has arisen that for various reasons a number of players have had to withdraw from our original squad number. Due to this it was decided that the most beneficial approach, in regards to the necessary preparation that is required for Nationals, would be to select provisional squads sooner rather than later. It is also our intention as a coaching group that through this move it will allow players/families to plan for the travel and costing commitments that are required.

From this point onwards, unless otherwise stated by a coach, session attendance is mandatory for all and exemptions will only be given for injury with the accompaniment of a doctor’s certificate. All other reasons for unavailability must be discussed with any of the coaching staff in advance otherwise those players will be considered for exclusion from the squad. We hope that this makes it clear our expectations for all players for the remainder of this training program.

We need to highlight that these squads truly are provisional and it is by no means a case of attempting to mask plans for the teams proper. If a player does prove themselves, then it is our intent to use the final selection camp in August to acknowledge any improvement, where possible. By this stage the players are able to acknowledge areas of their game that need improvement and it is our hope these areas will be at the fore in every players mind. If a player is unsure on where they need to improve then please contact the coaching staff as soon as possible.
