110 guests attended the 5th annual Water Polo Queensland Awards Night at Ballymore Rugby Club on Friday the 26th September.
Carol Hudson and Jacque Giles were inducted into the Water Polo Queensland Hall of Fame for their playing contributions to Queensland and Australia.
The 9 award categories were also presented, the winners of the awards are as follows;
Service to Sport: Steve Jurgs (Toowoomba)
Volunteer of the Year: Melissa Sloane (Townsville)
Coach of the Year: Michael Cranley
Officiator of the Year: Andrew Carney
Club/Association of the Year: Brisbane Water Polo
Junior Male Player: Daniel Young
Junior Female Player: Ursula Talbot
Male Player of the Year: Anthony Martin
Female Player of the Year: Kate Gynther

Original Story: Come along and enjoy the 2008 Water Polo Queensland Awards night at the Ballymore Rugby Club on Friday the 26th September which will be our fifth year of this event and also an Olympic Year. Tickets must be purchsed prior to the night to avoid disappointment as last year the night was a sell out. Tickets are $60 or a table of 10 can be purchased for $540.

Come and enjoy this prestiguous night where we recognise the many valuable volunteers and players who have contributed to the sport over the past year.
Award categories for the night are as follows,

* Junior Female Player of the Year
* Male Player of the Year
* Female Player of the Year
The evening also doubles as the Hall of Fame where we have an opportunity to induct 2 legends into the Hall of Fame for their contribution to the sport. Last year the players inducted were Russell Sherwell and Amanda Leeson-Smith.
Any member or affiliate of Water Polo Queensland can nominate people for the Awards night or Hall of Fame by completing and returning the following nomination form to the office of Water Polo Queensland by the 11th August.
